Concrete pouring for the site's first baseplate was completed Jan 13 and the pile foundation is nearly finished, marking the start of its main structure construction. The project will facilitate the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone's closed operation in 2022.
Constructor China Construction Second Engineering Bureau has overcome the challenges of soft silt and successfully cast the concrete piles 80 m (262 ft) beneath the ground. Well-defined arrangements were also made to ensure the checkpoint's normal operation.
Crews will continue to work through the upcoming Spring Festival holiday from Jan 31 to Feb 6 and optimize construction technologies to ensure completion of the main structure in April.
