New Year celebrated in new-fashioned ways on Hengqin
Entertainment sites on Hengqin Island are using innovation and technology to welcome the new year, starting with the "We Walk in Hengqin" light show at Legend Ponto Square.
Located across from Hengqin Checkpoint on East Huandao Road, the facility will use "naked-eye" 3D technology, artistic lighting, laser shows, and music to present the culture of Hengqin and Macao. Shows are scheduled tonight through Jan 6 at 7:30, 8, 8:30, 9, 9:30, and 9:50 pm.
Next, Novotown on Tianyudao Road has a "Blind Box" activity with elements of aerospace science as well as acrylic, metal, and neon lights. A blind box is a type of packaging that keeps its contents hidden. The event will run from now until Jan 16.

Also in Novotown, Lionsgate Entertainment World will attract "Giant Blind Box" enthusiasts with video-sharing challenges. Visitors can share personal videos on social media to win blind boxes. New Year's Day settings feature the integrated neon and cyberpunk elements to bring a sense of future technology.
Meanwhile, Novotown's Hengqin National Geographic Ultimate Explorer will have game and quiz lessons on environmental protection.
Continuing the tour, Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort is decorated for the New Year's celebration. Interactive entertainment facilities such as curling and visual reality polar slides will provide experiences in winter sports and welcome the upcoming Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
Fireworks will be set off and float parades are to give the feeling of being in an Artic Nordic kingdom. Representing the most-southern continent, 11 newly born Antarctic emperor penguins will make their public debut at the celebration.
In addition, China Red Sandalwood Museum Hengqin Branch on Renshan Road will remain open from 9 am to 5 pm during the Jan 1-3 holiday.
Adults can receive a 40 percent discount with valid ID cards. Free entrance is available for Hengqin and Macao residents, primary and middle school students, people aged over 60, and children below 1.2 m (4 ft). The ticket box will close at 4:30 pm.
