Made-in-China timepieces show Macao ties with Hengqin
Chinese-made antique clocks and watches continue on display at the Macao-Hengqin Youth Entrepreneurship Valley through Jan 14 as part of celebrations of the 22nd anniversary of the return of Macao to the motherland.
The month-long exhibition stands for more cooperation between the Hengqin and Macao cultural creative industries since the September release of the Overall Development Plan for Construction of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
Four stages of the exhibition show how the "Made in China" timepiece industry started from scratch. They demonstrate the Chinese watchmaker's untiring, pioneering, and diligent spirit. Among 150 articles on display are Cantonese timepieces of various shapes and decorations, redwood clocks handmade in Jiangsu Province's Suzhou and adjacent regions, and "Made in China" watches and alarm clocks.

Industrial experts from the Chinese mainland and Macao also attended seminars on the design and trends of domestic timepieces as well as the Chinese timepiece culture.
The exhibition is hosted by Zhuhai Hengqin Zhongtian Timepiece Technology and Zhuhai Da Heng Qin Development under guidance of the Macao Foundation. The Macao Timepiece Museum, the first and only of its kind in Asia having a range of private collections of watch connoisseurs, also offers assistance. Fond Wing-ngai, museum curator, expressed hope that the exhibition would boost cultural communication and integration.
Cosponsor Zhuhai Hengqin Zhongtian Timepiece Technology, has a timepiece collection and cultural research experience, is a Macao-invested company based in Entrepreneurship Valley.
The exhibition is enriching Hengqin's cultural creative exhibition contents, noted Chen Xuekun of Zhuhai Da Heng Qin Development. The company will introduce more cultural creative industries, talents, and cross-border exhibitions and conferences to the cooperation zone to make Hengqin a new space for the sector with a global influence.
Macao-Hengqin Youth Entrepreneurship Valley features industry settlement in Hengqin, cultivation, and development for Hong Kong and Macao companies. It is also a national advertising industrial park that promotes cultural-creative industries.
The exhibition is open from 9 am to 5 pm daily free of charge at the reception hall of Building 18 of Entrepreneurship Valley.
