China's electronic warfare aircraft J-16D will be on static display whereas two Hongdu JL-10 supersonic advanced jet trainers will take flight at the Sept 28 to Oct 3 China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China).

An upgraded version of multirole fighter J-16, the J-16D has more space for electronic devices since the removal of infrared search tracking sensors and 30-mm cannons. The jet fighter has multiple antennas and two large electronic intelligence pods in its wingtips, which are like those on the US E/A-18 Growler.

Nicknamed "Small J-10," the Hongdu JL-10 is a new-generation advanced jet trainer independently developed by China. It is used to improve pilots technical and tactical ability, reduce the gap between aviation schools and armies, and increase the quality and efficiency of flight combat personnel training.

The Hongdu JL-10 debuted at the military parade celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China on Oct 1, 2019. The pair will perform aerobatic maneuvers at Airshow China for the first time.

In addition, the Bayi (Aug 1) Aerobatic Team of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force and Y-20 strategic transport plane arrived in Zhuhai on Wednesday.
