Zhuhai's cityscape, investment and entrepreneurial environment, and policies supporting sci-tech innovation will be promoted Nov 15-17 at the second International Science, Technology & Innovation Forum of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA). 

Some 1,500 government officials, experts, scholars, international and non-government organization heads, enterprises, industrial associations, and media representatives are expected. They will discuss 5G technology, genetic engineering, the Internet of Things, quantum technology, and carbon neutrality. The conference theme is Innovation Empowers Sustainable Development.

The November conference will promote international exchanges and support the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals. Scheduled are 16 sub-forums, an expo, and several round-tables on how technological innovation creates a better life, fights the COVID-19 pandemic, and boosts post-pandemic economic recovery.

The event will rely upon the domestically leading Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Center, professional services, and abundant experience with the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition, RemaxWorld Expo, 21st Century Maritime Silk Road China (Guangdong) International Communication Forum, and Macao-Zhuhai Entrepreneur Summit, said Deputy Mayor Zhang Yisheng at a Sept 9 press conference.

The city has established a leadership group and seven work groups for conference affairs, reception, publicity, security and emergency response, overall support, epidemic prevention and control, and investment attraction. Local public security, transport, health, and market supervision authorities will ensure security, anti-epidemic, transport, medical treatment, food safety, water and electricity supply, and telecommunication issues.

The event is organized by the BFA International Science, Technology & Innovation Forum Organizing Committee and Zhuhai Municipal People's Government under the umbrella of BFA and Guangdong Provincial People's Government.

Permanent annual BFA meetings are held in the town of Boao on Hainan Island. The 1st Conference of the International Science, Technology & Innovation Forum was held last November in Macao.
