Increasing numbers of University of Macau teachers and students now use Hengqin Checkpoint on East Huandao Road that implements the "Joint Inspection & One-time Release" mode, which greatly shortens customs clearance time.
Previously, travelers had to go through clearance procedures and pay fare for a shuttle bus between Hengqin and Macao's Lotus checkpoints. Most then preferred to use Gongbei Checkpoint downtown.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the Hengqin Frontier Inspection Station has cooperated with customs and health authorities to prevent imported infection and ensure the safety of travelers via a closed-loop management.
Committed staff were organized to assist residential communities in anti-epidemic work and take part in volunteer activities in the mode of the legendary selfless hero Lei Feng and promotion of science. A green channel is also offered to those with special needs or who require care.
