Zhuhai contends as a 'China Happiest City' for 6th time
Once again Zhuhai has been shortlisted by Oriental Outlook magazine and Liaowang Institute think tank to be one of China's Top 10 Happiest Cities (prefecture-level and beyond).
Already Zhuhai has been named one of China's Top 10 Happiest Cities (prefecture-level) five times, most recently in November 2020. This year, a hundred candidate cities at prefecture level or beyond and another hundred county-level cities (districts) are being evaluated in line with the Chinese Happiest City laboratory's urban happiness index system.

More than 1 billion pieces of urban datum will be collected by Baidu Research's Business Intelligence Lab. Assessed will be employment, residents' income, quality of life, ecological environment, attractiveness, public security, education, transport, and healthcare.
The final list will be released in October following big data collection, questionnaires, application materials, field investigations, and expert reviews.
For 14 years the survey has recognized more than 80 cities and has made the title of China's Happiest Cities their calling card in the new era.
In Guangdong Province, Zhuhai is among 11 cities contending at prefecture level or beyond. The others are: Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Yangjiang, Chaozhou, Shantou, Zhanjiang, and Jieyang. Another 16 county-level cities or districts will be selected as this year's candidates.
