Doumen plans expansion of base honoring CPC martyr
The Xiaohaochong Party History Education Base commemorating native martyr Kuang Rensheng (1911-42) will be expanded and upgraded from October to next June at a cost of 50 million yuan ($7.74 million).
Kuang had established Zhuhai's first Communist Party of China branch along with Kuang Shuming, Kuang Zhenda, and Kuang Jianling (Kuang being a common surname in Doumen Town in which Xiaohaochong Village is located). He was killed by the Japanese in 1942.
The Education Base will have exhibition halls on Party achievements, contemporary Doumen, and spiritual civilization in the new era. An archway will be built, and the original Kuang Ancestral Hall will be restored. A garden, pond, and square will join a circular corridor around two Lingnan-styled courtyards, which will have no walls so it can be freely used by villagers.
The village entry road will be moved to the east side of the Education Base, while the west side will be turned into a paddy field so that the site integrates party history learning, agriculture, and tourism.
Located in Xiaohaochong Village of Doumen District, the Education Base houses the statue of Kuang and artifacts from the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1931-45).
