Romantic Honeymoon Park embellishes Dong'ao Island
Honeymoon (Miyue) Park on northwestern Dong'ao Island opened June 16 as an ideal place at which to enjoy natural sceneries, take photos, and host wedding ceremonies.
Couples can exchange vows at the stylish black-and-white Wedding Hall set on a lawn by the sea and open to the world with outsized windows. Nearby is the statue "Ring of Vows," which stands for the fidelity of love.
Other romantic sites are: Love Rest Station, Love Corridor, and Wedding Celebration Service Base. The 4.5-hectare (11-acre) park also has a slow-traffic walkway, circular trestle, sightseeing platform, and coastal and forest boardwalks.

The seaside plank extends 671 m (734 yd) from Gree Dong'ao Hotel at Diamond Beach of Nansha Bay. It has three transparent sections to create the illusion of walking on the sea. A ring-shaped trestle bridge in the middle protrudes 281 m (307 yd), taking visitors close to high waves and steep rock surfaces.
Nearby, the 644-m (704-yd) forest walk climbs to Honeymoon Pavilion. The newly restored four-story structure has a large bell and inscriptions of lyric poems composed by ancient literati. A dominant view of Dong'ao Island is enhanced by vistas of the sky, sea, mountains, and scattered islands.
The park is barrier free and with little height difference to increase accessibility for seniors, children, and the physically challenged. Moreover, a 120-m (131-yd) escalator will soon be available from a hillside platform to Honeymoon Pavilion.
The walks will connect the park with the Ring (Huandao) Road project, bringing together local mountain and sea views with cultural landscapes, said Wang Xianrui, head of Wanshan Town.
