A City of Youth & Vigor, Zhuhai is 9th in brand awareness among the top 100 domestic prefecture-level cities, it was announced May 9 at the 2021 Chinese Brand Value Information Release & Chinese Brand Construction Summit in Shanghai.

The list is compiled by the Chinese Urban Brand Assessment Project team and China City News Agency based on two years of data from national ministries and commissions. They assess 293 domestic prefecture-level cities across five first-grade indexes: quality, service, innovation, and tangible and intangible assets.

Some of the 37 second-grade indexes are urban comprehensive credit, publicity, number of national characteristic brands, air quality, green coverage, ratio of non-native permanent residents, employment rate, per capita disposable income, and average life expectancy. The weighting of city scale and GDP in the assessment has been reduced, while that of green and shared development was increased to promote a new and people-centered philosophy.

Most of the top 100 cities have a clear position and global vision and are suitable for residential life, work, study, business, and travel.

Zhuhai is welcoming youths and talents with sound introduction and cultivation mechanisms, improved services, a convenient transport network, 100-billion-yuan ($1.55-billion) industrial clusters, and major development platforms.

The city boasts world-renowned air quality and living environment thanks to harmonious development between green ecology and the economy, as well as the addition of numerous parks and green corridors.

Furthermore, Zhuhai is a pioneer in education, social security, and coordinated urban-rural development. Residents have seen constant improvement in food, clothing, housing, transportation, employment, education, and medical treatment.

The city has received accolades that include the Dubai International Award for Best Practice in Improving the Living Environment, National Civilized City, National Hygienic City, and Demonstration City of China Ecological Civilization. Zhuhai has been named one of China's Top 10 Happiest Cities (prefecture-level) five times and made China's Top 10 Beloved Cities this year.

Over the next five years, Zhuhai is to become a node in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), transport hub on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary, and Modernized and Internationalized Special Economic Zone with larger economic scale, high-quality development, and enhanced support for Macao's economic diversification.
