Xingfu Park/nabe center open next month in Doumen
Xingfu (Happiness) River Ecological Park in Doumen's Western Central Urban Area will open by late June along with the Baiteng River Cultural Station & Neighborhood Center, the Doumen Construction & Renovation Office announced May 8.
The 32-hectare (79-acre) park is bordered by Xingfu River in the south, Huxin Road in the west, Pinghua Avenue in the north, and Baiteng River Flood Discharge Channel in the east. A 2-km (1.24-mile) waterside boardwalk has taken shape, while camphor, maple, and silk floss trees, and giant crape myrtle (lagerstroemia speciosa) thrive on both sides. A waterfront platform is being built as the best spot from which to admire the river.

Under the Sponge City concept, the park has gardens and vegetated trenches to promote rainwater utilization and protect the ecological environment. A revetment on the bank slope reduces damage to the natural terrain.
The main structure and roof of the Baiteng River Cultural Station & Neighborhood Center have been completed. Interior decoration and layout and outdoor landscaping are well underway.
The roof is in the archaic style of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), while the interior is modern Chinese. The parking lot and lecture and multifunctional halls are at basement level. The first floor is for an exhibition hall, arts-and-cultural studio, reading room, and senior and children's activity rooms, while the second is for cultural exhibitions.
Construction is undertaken in two phases by CRCC Western Zhuhai Investment & Development. The 13.6-hectare (34-acre) first phase opens first. The second phrase encompasses greenways, plank roads, greening, and support facilities.
