Made-in-Zhuhai fully electric liner takes maiden voyage
The first purely electric vessel in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which was made in Zhuhai, recently sailed on a maiden voyage from Guangzhou's Fangcun Wharf.
Jianglong Shipbuilding adopted many industry-leading technologies in producing the Jin Long Yu (Arowana) in Pingsha Town, Jinwan District. The classified vessel required higher dynamic performance and design. It is 38.8 m (127 ft) long, 12 m (39 ft) wide, and can cruise at 18 kmph (11 mph).

For instance, the fashionable 280-seat vessel can realize zero emission and has low noise and vibrancy thanks to innovative new-energy lithium iron phosphate batteries. This is said to allow for a safe, tranquil, and comfortable Pearl River cruise experience.
The Jin Long Yu is expected to reduce diesel consumption by more than 100 tons annually compared with traditional vessels. It will lead waterborne tourism of Pearl River into a green, environmentally friendly, and low-carbon era.
Founded in 2003, Jianglong Shipbuilding is a domestically leading enterprise engaged in the design, R&D, production, sales, and maintenance of sightseeing, law enforcement, and special-operation vessels. It has construction bases in Zhongshan and Zhuhai.
In 2016, it teamed up with Austal, the world's largest aluminum alloy shipbuilder based in Australia, to establish a joint venture, Aulong Shipbuilding, in Zhuhai to supply high-performance aluminum alloy vessels to the Chinese market.
