Xiangzhou District has decided that industrial chains for the artificial intelligence, photoelectricity, intelligent manufacturing, health, integrated circuit design, and digital creative sectors will be coordinated by chiefs.

Much as county heads have designated responsibilities, these government chiefs will complete the chain of local key industries and increase their competitiveness, it was announced at the March 29 Xiangzhou Innovation-Driven Development Conference.

Li Deren of the Chinese academies of Sciences and Engineering, Zhang Weiyan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Du Ruxu of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and Wu Hanming of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and honorary president of Hubei University's School of Microelectronics were hired as consultants, as were five entrepreneurs including Gree Chairwoman Dong Mingzhu.

Moreover, 36 key project agreement signings to settle in Xiangzhou were made at the conference, representing total investment of 17.3 billion yuan ($2.63 billion). Among them are seven sci-tech innovation projects, three industrial parks, 14 high-end service projects, and 12 high-end manufacturing projects, with respective investment of 2.5 billion yuan ($380.75 million), 8.5 billion yuan ($1.29 billion), 5 billion yuan ($761.5 million), and 1.3 billion yuan ($198 million).

Forty-seven enterprises that have won innovation awards above municipal level and the Top 10 Xiangzhou Enterprises in Intellectual Property Rights in 2020 were cited during the conference.
