Humongous mall relies on Gree to ensure it's ever cool
Gree Electric Appliances recently won the contract to supply three independently developed centrifugal water chillers for the largest new mega shopping mall in South America.
The 1000RT CE-series two-stage fixed-frequency centrifuges will help cool the six-story Feira da Madrugada shopping mall in the center of São Paulo, the largest city in Brazil and South America. The new mall covers 100,000 sqm (25 acres), has 250,000 sqm (62 acres) of floor area, 5,500 stores, train and bus stations, and 2,700 parking spaces.

Requirements are demanding for stability, corrosion prevention, anti-vibration, and energy conservation regarding heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. Factors include the large acreage and population density, high-end customers, and high electricity cost in Brazil. HVAC systems must be stable for long times despite large demands for refrigeration and centralized fresh air.

Gree dedicated a project team to customize the centrifuge, which has an energy efficiency rating above National Level-1: a stable operation, high reliance, low noise level of less than 86dB (A), and wide operating load range of 10 percent. The design has US Air-Conditioning, Heating, & Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) certification.
The Chinese household giant is headquartered in Qianshan, Xiangzhou District of Zhuhai. Gree entered the Brazil market in the 1990s and set up a subsidiary there in 2001. The company now has more than 200 distributors and over 1,200 service outlets in Brazil, with a sales network across 27 States. It has strengthened the "Made in China" label with high quality and leading technological strengths.
