Intelligent manufacturing park raised to provincial level
The Doumen Intelligent Manufacturing Economic Development Zone was recently approved by the Guangdong government as a new engine to drive the innovation economy of the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary.
The third provincial economic development zone in Zhuhai covers 2.08-sqkm (514 acres) between the Modaomen Waterway, South Shuichan and Wuliu roads, and Xinhuan Transformer Substation (East Hailong Road). Its predecessor was the Doumen Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park in the Xin'gang area of Doumen Agricultural Park.
The park is envisioned as a 100-billion-yuan ($15-billion) demonstration zone for intelligent manufacture, city-industry integration, and rural rejuvenation. It is expected to have a high concentration of industries, complete urban functions, and lovely ecological environment, said Zeng Zhi, deputy director of the Doumen Agricultural Park Administrative Committee.

With investment totaling 16 billion yuan ($2.5 billion), the industrial park already has 18 emerging manufacturing projects, including Dongao Electrical, Bohua Electric, and Yuancheng Digital Technology. Their combined annual output value is estimated to exceed 20 billion yuan ($3 billion).
Major structures of Dongao Electrical Phase I and Bohua Electric are among six that will be topped off this year. Construction of Yuancheng Digital Technology Phase I, Xuanyu Auto, and Jiyuan Science & Technology will commence this quarter, while that of Ruisu Intelligent Technology and Jin Jue Intelligent Technology will get underway soon. Xprinter, on the other hand, will complete land acquisition this month.
In addition, a leading project costing 3 billion yuan ($464 million) and more than 10 high-quality endeavors worth more than 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) are expected to settle in the industrial park this year.
An industrial park service center and artificial intelligence sci-tech harbor are among seven projects to be built at a cost of 650 million yuan ($101 million). An industrial supportive service system will take form with another five proposed projects.
228 National Road (Huangyang Avenue) and the first phase of Xin'gang Avenue renovation will be completed this year, and preliminary work will begin on Jiye, Huazhi, and the second phase of Xin'gang avenues.
The industrial park will bring in 25 billion yuan ($3.9 billion) in investment, while fostering two industrial clusters each with output value of 5 billion yuan ($773.6 million), and three to five leading enterprises with core competitiveness in three years, said Qiu Xiaohui of co-developer China Fortune Land Development.
