N China, Europe tableaux seen in Film & TV Small Town
Pingsha Film & Television Cultural Small Town in the Gaolan Port Economic Zone will partially open by the end of this year for industrialized production, tourism, and talent cultivation related to movies and television.
Completed so far are a North China-style archaic architecture cluster, logistics building, and multifunctional photo studios, which total floorage of 18,600 sqm (4.6 acres).

As part of the Oriental Garden Landscape Cluster, the North China architecture complex comprises archaic palaces, halls, pavilions, and corridors. They are built as ideal shooting venues for all kinds of costume and imperial harem dramas and are also open to tourists.
The logistics building encompasses a professional movie and television censor hall and technological support center, arts media office area, canteen, supermarket, and accommodation and resting spaces.
With floor area of 9,918.5 sqm (2.5 acres), the multifunctional digital photo studio cluster reportedly is the largest and best-equipped of its kind in South China. It features all-round intelligentized control and a wall with 3D scanning and modeling and holographic projection technologies that can synthesize any scene for casts and tourists.
In addition, work on the quadrangle dwellings (sì hé yuàn, 四合院) and European architecture is the next part of the first phase that entails investment of 2 billion yuan ($310 million). The first and second phases together will occupy 156,992 sqm (39 acres) of the former site of the Pingsha Sugar Refinery.
They will form architectural clusters of different styles on the two banks of the Pingtang River, with Chinese Landscape City, quadrangle dwelling cluster, multifunctional digital studios, and logistics building on the north side, and World Landscape City and cast apartments on the south side.
