Checkpoint and airport expect peak at Lantern Festival
Gongbei Checkpoint processed more than 1.1 million border crossings and 20,000 vehicles during the Feb 11-17 Spring Festival holiday, the majority being migrant workers and residents of Macao.
Passages peaked Feb 13 and sustained an average growth rate of 7 percent since. Daily crossings averaged 170,000 from Feb 13 to 17. Travelers from the Chinese mainland constituted most of the growth, although there were also Macao natives returning to the mainland for family reunions.

Checkpoint staff forecast that crossings would be back down to pre-holiday levels with migrant workers returning to work in Macao and then peak once again for the Feb 26 Lantern Festival.
Meanwhile, Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport saw 72,000 travelers moving in and out via 743 passenger and 24 business flights during the holiday. The peak occurred on Feb 17, with more than 22,000 recorded on 212 flights. The average flight punctuality rate was 99.46 percent.
Air travelers should enquire in advance about the anti-epidemic policies of their destinations, and note that before entering the departure lounge, they must present a green health QR code or negative nucleic acid test result, wear a facial mask, and have body temperature taken.
Comparatively, Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport recorded 249,000 inbound and outbound passengers on 1,712 flights during the week-long 2019 Spring Festival holiday, while Gongbei Checkpoint saw a single-day traffic flow peak of 415,000.
