Unlisted companies of great potential get city support
The official register of unlisted high-growth and innovative Zhuhai enterprises swelled by 40 this week with the addition of three new, seven potential, and 30 seeded unicorns.
Of note, CosMX Battery in Doumen has become a unicorn in the Zhuhai High-Growth Innovation (Unicorn) Enterprise Cultivation Repository, according to the city's Science & Technology Innovation Bureau. Actions Technology, Eeasy Technology, and Amicro Semiconductor are now potential unicorns.
Newcomers to the repository receive a 2-million-yuan ($309,400) R&D startup fund, while seeded and potential unicorns are granted 5 million yuan ($773,500) to 20 million yuan ($3 million) for upgrade.

The biomedicine and big-health (including high-end medical apparatus) and new-generation information technology (integrated circuit, big data, Internet of Things, cloud computing, and blockchain) sectors each have 13 entries. Among them are iCarbonX, Tricision (Zhuhai) Biotechnology, and XH Smart Tech (China).
Titans New Power Electronics, Sany Ocean Heavy Industry, and Hengqin Firay Sci-Tech are among six entries from the intelligent equipment (including advanced equipment manufacture) sector.
New-energy and new-energy vehicles, and aviation and aerospace industries each have two entries, while new materials, modern logistics, financial science and technology, and artificial intelligence each have one.
Unlike previous years, seven companies based elsewhere – including Shenzhen HaploX Biotechnology, DST Car Renting (Shenzhen), and TFCloud (Beijing) – are reposited. They become eligible for support once in operation in Zhuhai within two years.
The concept of unicorns refers to pre-IPO startups with at least a $1 billion market value. In 2018 and 2019, Zhuhai promoted six unicorns, 15 potential unicorns, and 50 seeded for cultivation. The 71 enterprises have significantly helped develop the local new economy.
