Zhuhai CosMX Battery and Hubei Longteng Electronic signed agreements Dec 23 to build power battery and high-precision multilayer printed circuit board (PCB) plants in Doumen District's extensive Fushan Industrial Park.

Costing 5 billion yuan ($765 million), the CosMX power battery project is to generate 7 billion yuan ($1 billion) in annual output value and taxes of 230 million yuan ($35 million). The building site covers 400 mu (27 hectares, 66 acres).

After the signing ceremony, the enterprise revealed tentative plans to increase investment and settle its electric motorcycle lithium-ion battery pack project in the park.

Headquartered at 209 Zhufeng Road in Qianwu Town in 2007, CosMX specializes in the R&D, production, and sales of lithium-ion polymer batteries. The enterprise has production bases in both Chongqing and India, and is a long-time supplier to the world's top-tier manufacturers of laptops, tablet computers, and smart cellphones.

According to Japan-based Techno Systems Research, CosMX was 2nd worldwide last year in the sales of lithium-ion batteries for laptops and tablet computers and 4th in smart cellphones. The CosMX consumer lithium-ion battery output value is expected to exceed 6 billion yuan ($918 million) this year.

Covering 100 mu (6.7 hectares, 16.5 acres), the 1.2-billion-yuan ($184-million) high-precision multilayer PCB project of Shenzhen Longteng Electronic will generate output value of 1.5 billion yuan ($230 million) and taxes of 70 million yuan ($11 million). It is considered an essential project for an initial public offering.

A wholly owned subsidiary of Hubei Longteng Electronic, the national hi-tech enterprise leads the country in the R&D, production, and sale of PCBs. Its products are widely used in network and communication infrastructure, servers, computers and storage, touch-screen tablets, smart phones, wearable electronics, high-end consumer electronics, artificial intelligence hardware, industrial and commercial instrumentation, new energy, 5G, light Volts, and the medical, automotive, and aerospace fields.

Fushan Industrial Park is across the Huangmao River from Jiangmen City and covers 105.2 sqkm (41 sq miles) of land in Qianwu and Doumen towns. It currently is home to 66 operating PCB enterprises with total annual output value of 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion). Thirty projects under construction or in preparation will add output value of more than 71.5 billion yuan ($11 billion).

Moreover, numerous upstream and downstream enterprises engaged in copper clad laminate, special materials and equipment, and IC packaging have settled in the harbor-oriented park. They will contribute annual output value of 29 billion yuan ($4.4 billion). And a dozen projects under negotiation will bring in an additional 20 billion yuan ($3 billion).
