What may become the world's largest and most advanced blood purification medical equipment and consumable production bases, Jinding Industrial Park of Jafron Biomedical came under construction Nov 29.

Costing 1.5 billion yuan ($228 million), the complex is to support a medical equipment industrial cluster that integrates hemoperfusion cartridges, hemodialyzers with nanoscale membrane materials for medical use, and blood purification tubes and machines.

The new Jafron facility will cover 95,318 sqm (24 acres) and have floorage of 174,486 sqm (43 acres) in the National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan) Professional Biomedical Industrial Park. Operational by 2023, the Jafron park is expected to create more than 2,000 jobs, generate 4 billion yuan ($608 million) in annual output, and lead to a 100-billion-yuan ($15-billion) biomedical industrial cluster.

Settled in Tangjiawan in 2006, the blood purification leader has contributed over 260 million yuan ($39 million) in taxes. Jafron's output value has maintained double-digit growth for six consecutive years and a growth rate of 40 percent over the past two years. Its original hemoperfusion cartridges are sold to 5,400 large and medium-size hospitals in more than 60 countries.

Jafron blood adsorption technology has especially contributed to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, said Yan Zhen, deputy director of the Guangdong Medical Products Administration.

Jinding Industrial Park will join with Jafron's headquarters and Science & Technology Park at the Technological Innovation Coast in Tangjiawan, and company Hubei and Tianjin bases to form a complete blood purification industrial chain and strive to create total output value of 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion).

Dong Fan, chairman of Jafron Biomedical, said it took only about four months to go from planning to construction -- a solid testament, he added, to the efficiency of Jafron, the Hi-Tech Zone, and Zhuhai.
