The think tank has published the index annually since 2018. It assesses the innovation capability, multi-field integration, economic driving effect, brand quality, and green intensive development of domestic cities and national industrial parks. It analyses strengths and weaknesses developing advanced manufacturing and makes suggestions for high-quality development.
Zhuhai was ranked 29th in 2018 and 27th in 2019. The transition from "Zhuhai Manufacturing" to "Zhuhai Smart Manufacturing" has fast-tracked under leading enterprises Gree Electric Appliances, Seine Technology, and Ninestar and emerging companies Yunzhou-Tech, Orbita Aerospace Science & Technology, and Innoscience.
From intelligent equipment and integrated circuits to electronic information and unmanned systems, the city has explored a growth path of high-quality development. The 2020 Zhuhai government report proposes to vigorously develop advanced manufacturing and emerging industries.
Specifically, five 100-billion-yuan ($15-billion) emerging industrial clusters related to integrated circuits, biomedicine, new materials, new energy, and high-end printing equipment will take form. Meanwhile, a group of leading enterprises will be brought in and cultivated to advance the local modern industrial system.
