Jinwan Offshore Wind Farm begins generating power
The Jinwan Offshore Wind Farm entered trial operation when Wind Turbines 8 and 9 were connected to the Southern Power Grid on Nov 18.
Located 10.5 km (6.5 miles) south of Jinwan District's Sanzao Island and east of Gaolan Port, the wind farm has an onshore control center, 220kV offshore booster station, and 55 turbine generator systems with total installed capacity of 300,000 KW.

Guangdong Yudean Zhuhai Offshore Wind Power commenced construction in December 2018. The Guangdong Energy Group subsidiary invested more than 5.6 billion yuan ($851 million) in it. The project tops the domestic offshore wind power construction sector in speed of obtaining administrative approval and realizing power generation despite the COVID-19 pandemic and adverse weather.
To date, 30 wind turbines have been installed and construction of fundamental support facilities has been completed. Numbers 10, 11, and 12 wind turbines will be connected to the grid by Saturday, according to Li Jing, general manager of Guangdong Yudean Zhuhai Offshore Wind Power.
Once operational, the project will generate 7.29 TW of electricity annually, saving 225,800 tons of standard coal and eliminating 456,300 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
The largest offshore wind power project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the wind farm is to optimize the regional energy structure by establishing a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient supply system.
