Huawei announces new-generation technology center in Zhuhai
Plans for a Joint Innovation Center for New-Generation Information Technology Application were announced Nov 15 by Huawei Technologies to support the Kunpeng industrial ecosystem.
The facility at the National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan) is to provide Kunpeng software/hardware adaptation, business system certification, talent cultivation, ecological innovation, and industrial solution incubation and have influence across the country.
To further that end, an Information Technology Application Innovation Industrial Alliance, Dedicated Kunpeng Data Application Zone, and Kunpeng ecology cluster will be set up, while talents will be fostered for the Kunpeng industry.

An agreement to jointly operate the innovation center was signed between Huawei and Huafa Group the same day. The partnership will benefit from Zhuhai's solid foundation and advantages in software and information service, and information technology application innovation. It will utilize office software and hardware breakthroughs to develop a Kunpeng-based industrial ecology and transform Zhuhai's digital economy.
Establishment of the innovation center advances the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government and Huawei agreement of April to bolster new-generation information technology and Smart City construction based on the Kunpeng ecosystem.
The high-performance ARM-based server CPU Huawei Kunpeng 920 was introduced by the tech giant in January 2019. It is a proprietary chip purpose-built for big data processing and distributed storage. The processor is marketed for significant bandwidth, integration, and efficiency designed to meet diversified and green computing demands of data centers.
Favoring an open, rich Kunpeng ecosystem with its customers and partners, the Kunpeng computing industry encompasses personal computers, servers, storage, operating systems, middleware, virtualization, databases, cloud services, industrial applications, and consulting and management uses.
