Congratulatory video messages from mayors of Zhuhai's international sister cities were shown on the external walls of the Zhuhai Opera House to observe the 40th anniversary of the Zhuhai Special Economic Zone.

The zone's 40th birthday has been supported by many of Zhuhai's sister cities and friendly exchange cities. The mayors of Redwood City of the US, Atami of Japan, Suwon of the ROK, Braunschweig of Germany, Bologna of Italy, Nice of France, and Atlantida of Uruguay, among others, sent video messages, while the mayor of Gold Coast of Australia and the city council chairman of Rauma, Finland joined Zhuhai in celebration of the occasion by sending letters.

The greetings shows the profound and close friendship between Zhuhai and its international sister cities, and the desire to improve mutual understanding and cooperation between the cities' peoples.

A large number of residents and tourists stopped watch the congratulatory messages. They thought highly of Zhuhai's inclusiveness and openness. A tourist said, "I have visited Zhuhai quite often in the past two years. The messages give me the impression that Zhuhai is very friendly to anyone who comes to visit or to work." A citizen said, "When it comes to relations between cities and even beyond, cultural exchanges and people-to-people communication provide opportunities for people to grow closer."
