The Inhe Electric Power Research Institute came under construction in Zhuhai about a week ago to join the being-built Inhe Intelligent Power Distribution Industry Base as R&D headquarters of Shenzhen's Inhe Group.

The complex belongs to the group's Inhemeter, which distinguishes itself as a "smart power distribution solution provider." It is located at the Technological Innovation Coast in Beiwei (Zhuhai North Railway Station area) of the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan).

Designed to access spillover from high-end Shenzhen resources, the 250-million-yuan ($37-million) Inhe Electric Power Research Institute will have floor area of 60,000 sqm (15 acres). Nearby, the 350-million-yuan ($52-million) Inhe Intelligent Power Distribution Industry Base, with floorage of 45,000 sqm (11 acres), came under construction July 9.

A key municipal project, Inhe says the institute and base are to bring top-level researchers, R&D equipment, labs, academician workstations, and world-renowned certification institutions to Zhuhai.

Inhemeter will take full advantage of the layout of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area's industrial chain, integrate into the Zhuhai intelligent power distribution industrial cluster, deepen local advantageous talent and innovation relationships, and drive regional economic development, said Hi-Tech Zone official Liu Hong at the groundbreaking ceremony.

Founded in Shenzhen in 2009, Inhemeter is a national hi-tech enterprise involved in the R&D, production, and sales of "smart" electricity meters, metering devices, electricity information management systems, and photovoltaic new-energy products. Its products are sold to State Grid Corp of China and electricity companies in more than 80 countries and regions. The export value has ranked among the top three in the country for three consecutive years.
