Two medals of gold, four silver, and one bronze were earned by Zhuhai sci-tech and overseas returnee projects at the finals of the "Community Entrepreneurs Cup" Guangdong Entrepreneurship & Innovation Competition held at the Zhuhai Holiday Resort Hotel on Oct 13.

Among the golds is a Multi-Loop Feedback Vascular Intervention Robot System, developed by a group researcher led by Wang Cheng, under the Maker Team category. The "smart" operation system can be applied to vascular interventional surgeries in cases of cerebral stroke caused by cardiovascular disease. It can increase surgery efficiency, avoid hand instability of doctors due to lengthy surgery, reduce the exposure of patients to X-ray radiation, and reduce pain.

The other gold award is under the Enterprise category. It went to a High-Performance Inertial Sensor With Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) by Zhuhai HUAV Intelligent Technology. The world-leading structure design and navigation algorithm carries multiple independent intellectual property rights. It can be used in marine, military, aeronautics and astronautics, and vehicle-mounted equipment.

Founded in 2019, the Hengqin New Area start-up gathered many postgraduate, doctoral, and post-doctoral talents from first-tier domestic universities. Construction of the first phase of a closed test plant has been completed.

The sci-tech and overseas returnee division of the Guangdong Entrepreneurship & Innovation Competition has been held in Zhuhai five times and is noted for broad coverage, high sci-tech, and wide influence.

Since June 1, the division had attracted 600 domestic and international entrepreneurship projects -- 46 from Zhuhai. These projects cover new-generation information technology, biomedicine, new materials, energy conservation and environment protection, and intelligent manufacture.

In all, 22 projects made it to the finals. Winners receive prize money of 50,000 yuan ($7,415) to 200,000 yuan ($29,660), as well as preferential policies in rent, financing, guarantees, and credits.

In the previous four sessions 84 excellent entrepreneurship projects were selected from 3,000 participants. In those events Zhuhai ranked 1st in the province in participant number and quality, taking seven gold, 11 silver, and 13 bronze medals.
