Hengqin computing center cited as top AI platform
The Hengqin Advanced Intelligent Computing Center of the Guangdong Qinzhi Science & Technology Research Institute garnered the Best AI Industrial Service Platform Award at the recent Global Artificial Intelligence Exposition in Shenzhen.
The center, established in May 2019, is operated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Guangdong, Zhuhai, and Hengqin New Area governments, and possesses a computing power of up to 1.16 exa-operations per second (Eops) relying on a domestically made neural network chip.

It provides market-oriented services related to intelligent computing software and hardware, resource sharing, cross-over research, centralized data storage and backup, and industrial innovation. The services support the Smart City, epidemic prevention and control, finance, manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics sectors.
To date, the center has provided service for a dozen domestically leading scientific research institutions and AI enterprises. These include the CAS Institute of Computing Technology, CAS Institute of Software, University of Science & Technology of China, Nanjing University, Polixir Technology, and Pachira, said Guo Zhen, general manager of Qinzhi Science & Technology.
Guangdong Qinzhi Science & Technology Research Institute is a joint venture of Cambricon Technologies, a Beijing-based AI chip unicorn, and Zhuhai Da Heng Qin Technology Development. It is committed to the cultivation of a "core platform + data operation + ecological cooperation" ecological circle in the intelligent industry.
