Robots created in Zhuhai rush to the rescue in Jiangxi
Waterborne vessel and life-saving robots, and mobile stretchers developed by Zhuhai-based Yunzhou-Tech recently helped prepare a dam and protect people on the frontline of flood control in East China.
Yunzhou-Tech sent an eight-man technical support team to Jiangxi Province in mid-July with a dozen robotic products that it had created. Waters of many rivers and lakes in the province, which borders north-central Guangdong, had risen above alert-triggering levels due to incessant downpours.
The Yunzhou-Tech team rushed to Shangrao City on July 20, as a dam in its Yugan County had partially collapsed at 5 am. Despite hazards, within 5 minutes their remote-controlled hydrologic monitoring USV had measured the collapsed length at 35 m (115 ft) and surrounding water depth at 3 to 4 m (10 to 13 ft).

The USV, created with "prominent sink-resistibility," can work steadily in a gentle breeze. It takes efficient and precise measurements and transmits real-time data and flow-rate charts.
Based on the data, flood-control personnel repaired the dam in little more than three hours. During the process, Dolphin 1 life-saving robots stood by in case someone fell into the water. Each 13-kg robot, with a designed load bearing of 150 kg, can drag three adults to safety under remote control.
In addition, the on-water mobile stretcher was used for assistance in locations from Yugan County to Jiujiang City and Boyang Lake in northern Jiangxi. Equipped with non-slipping lumps and bandages, it can carry 200 kg and is suitable to transport the injured, elderly, and children, as well as delivering life and first-aid supplies in flood-affected regions.
