Zhuhai lauds hi-tech enterprises for national triumphs
Nationally recognized achievements by several of Zhuhai's 2,203 hi-tech technological enterprises and 16 provincial new-type R&D institutions were further honored by the city government on July 1.
Certificates and plaques were presented at the Conference on Zhuhai Sci-Tech Innovation & Propelling High-Quality Development of Manufacturing Industry along with citations for entries to the local High-Growth Innovation Enterprise Cultivation Repository.
A record-breaking four Zhuhai projects garnered China's highest scientific honors for 2019. CRCC Harbor & Channel Engineering Bureau Group received the State Scientific & Technological Progress Awards grand prize, and China Aviation Industry General Aircraft Research Institute accepted second in that category. Meanwhile, Guangdong's top honors for sci-tech achievement went to 14 Zhuhai projects in the fields of integrated circuits, power energy, electronic and electrical equipment, engineering construction, biomedicine, and agricultural science and technology.
Gree Electric Appliances, for instance, earned Guangdong Technological Invention Awards, and Da Hengqin Technology Development took first in the Guangdong Science & Technology Progress Awards. The number of Zhuhai's award-winners was exceeded only by those of Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
In addition, 27 enterprises including Yinlong New Energy in Jinwan District and Hengqin-based Yingmi Fund, Wicue Technology, and Increase Innovative Medicine (Hengqin) Research Institute were added to the Zhuhai High-Growth Innovation (Unicorn) Enterprise Cultivation Repository last year.
Founded in 2018, the repository fosters and brings in leading enterprises in new technological fields with strong innovation capability, fast growth, and high development potential. The current 71 members enjoy all-round support in systems, capital, talent, technology, and land throughout their life cycles.
Zhuhai Party Secretary Guo Yonghang, Mayor Yao Yisheng, and Deputy Party Secretary Zhao Jianguo made the presentations in recognition of innovations and breakthroughs, which cater to national major demands and modern industrial development.
The value added of citywide hi-tech industrial enterprises above designated size rose by 4.9 percent year-on-year to 66 billion yuan ($9.3 billion) in 2019, while 42,000 talents were introduced, an increase of 55.5 percent from the previous year.
