Construction of the fashionably designed Jinwan Aviation New Town Civic Arts Center is expected to be completed by the end of 2021, providing versatile functions and user-friendly public spaces in the heart of Aviation New Town Central Lake off Jinfan Avenue.

The 66,700-sq-m (16-acre) facility with floor area of 99,600 sq m (25 acres) will become a performance venue with advanced acousto-optic equipment, business catering, and popular science exhibition facilities rising above the water.

Appearing like flocks of seabirds from afar and drifting sails from above, or a crystal flower, the center is designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. The British firm has produced numerous outstanding works, including Guangzhou Opera House and Beijing Daxing International Airport.

Four zones -- theater, and science popularization, multi-functional, and art halls -- will connect by bridges and stilted spaces.

A public square in the middle of the facility will complement exterior space for commercial activities and performances. Other outdoor public spaces include a weatherproof stilt floor, waterside area, stages, and a sightseeing platform.

Of note, curtain walls will fully allow daylight to enter the interior, and lighting will illuminate the entire building at night.

In addition to cutting-edge design, the project also adopts the latest construction technology, for instance, covering the facility with 40,000 aluminum sheets of various shapes.

Construction commenced in November 2017. As of June 30, the basement roof plate had been 75 percent completed, as had the second floor of the Multi-Functional Hall, and Floor B1 areas of the Science Popularization and Art halls.

Upon completion, the center will improve public support facilities of the Central Lake Community along with Huafa Mall in Nanping Town, the Business Center, Jinwan District Library, Archives Hall, and Industrial Service Center.
