Zhuhai-based Allwinner Technology has been recognized for the second time as a Top 10 China IC (integrated circuit) Design Enterprise by virtue of continuous technical innovation and high-quality products and services.

The honor was announced June 28 at the 2020 China IC Leaders Summit & China IC Design Awards Ceremony in Shanghai. Winners of one of the most significant technological awards in China's electronic industry were selected by EE (Electronic Engineering) Times China, EDN (Electronics Designs Network) China, and ESM (Electronics Management) China for each of 18 years. Aspencore, owner of the publications headquartered in the US state of Idaho, is the world's largest media group in the technical electronics sector.

Allwinner Technology, founded in the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan) in 2007, first won the award in 2018. The company is a leading fabless designer that uses intelligent application systems on a chip (SoC), high performance analog components, and wireless connectivity IC.

In addition to developing technologies related to artificial intelligence (AI) chips for a long time, Allwinner has undertaken nine major sci-tech and industrialized projects above provincial and ministerial level since 2014.

Last year, Allwinner Technology spent 294.6 million yuan ($41.7 million) in R&D, with R&D staff accounting for 74 percent of its employee roster. It developed China's first automotive grade master control chip and achieved mass production in multiple vehicle models. Its T7 processor was granted the 2019 "China Chip" Excellent Technical Innovation Product Award by the Ministry of Industry & Information Technology at the 14th China IC Industry Promotion Conference.

The company also led the intelligent speaker market by selling 11 million R328 processors in 2019, a market share of more than 70 percent. The processor was cited as a 2019 Best Homemade MPU Product by the Shenzhen-based semiconductor media platform Xinshiye and Audio of the Year of 2019 Aspencore World Electronics Achievement Awards.

The summit was attended by hundreds of senior design engineers, management elites, and technical decision makers. In all, 76 awards were granted in recognition of companies, teams, managers, and products that lead technological innovation and promote industry development.
