Shipside pickup saves time and money at Gaolan Port
Gaolan Port Terminal processed Zhuhai's first shipside pickup of imported commodities June 4, and Gongbei Customs reports no delays in vessel entry, unloading, or delivery.
A container laden with 1,592 kg of imported adhesives was unloaded from the Xinghang 668 directly onto a truck, which drove through the customs gate and left for ThreeBond Chemical Industry (Zhuhai) in the Zhuhai Free Trade. The entire process took only 10 minutes.
The new "no-wait" customs clearance mode allows enterprises to declare commodities in advance for early inspection. Owners can pick up directly at shipside containerized cargoes that do not require bench inspection. Compared with traditional modes, it saves the need to hoist, transport, and stockpile containers within the port terminal.
In addition, shipside pickup speeds up the logistic process, increases efficiency, and reduces costs , as enterprises can arrange for the goods based on inspection progress and transport distance instead of having them kept at the port terminal, according to Chen Tingting, business manager of ThreeBond Chemical Industry (Zhuhai).
