Da'nan Bay is nestled at the base of pristine hills and has a broad sandy beach

Hebao, which translates as "Purse" but transliterates as "Hope," lies southwest of Gaolan Port, Zhuhai and is a largely unpopulated island with eight bays, some of them broad and others narrow gulfs, and eight sandy and two pebble beaches. Among the broad ones, Da'nan is the largest, most popular, and, at 4,000 m (4,374 yd), longest bay on any of the 146 islands of Zhuhai.

Encircled by 28 km (17.5 miles) of coastline, tropical rainforest blankets the hilly interior while valleys transverse 13.5 sq km (3,336 acres) of the tropical island. Flowers blooming year around are graced by 126 species of butterflies. Scenic spots Da'nan Bay Beach, Butterfly Valley, Hebao Fishing Village, and remnants of a military base offer swimming, rock angling, beach soccer, and more leisure opportunities.

To the north, Damang and a couple of smaller islands constitute the southernmost tip of Jinwan District dotting the mouth of the Huangmao River on the South China Sea.
