All 33 ongoing provincial and municipal key projects across Hengqin New Area are underway again with 40,000 workers back at construction sites. Supporting the crews are streamlined work-resumption procedures, incentive awards, free COVID-19 tests, accident insurance, ample material supplies, and fault-tolerant measures.

Major works Hengqin Science City, International Science & Technology Innovation Center, and infrastructure and support facilities of the International Residential Zone were back in progress in early March.

Construction of Hengqin's first Sponge City demonstration continues since resumption in late February. Meanwhile, inasmuch as flood season is upon South China, work on urban infrastructure and support facilities of the Sci-Tech R&D Zone, International Residential Zone, Ecological Zeyuan and Zonglv Xianqiao parks has been accelerated. About 70 percent of the work has been completed.

Starting Feb 25, now more than 200 workers are back at WePark Phase I of Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Industrial Park, with anti-epidemic supplies and work-resumption awards offered by municipal and district governments. This key project, recommended by the Macao SAR Government, will emerge as a large urban complex of cultural-creative conference and exhibition, leisure tourism, youth entrepreneurial base, and art hotel.

Moreover, the Macao Affairs Bureau of the Hengqin Administrative Committee has offered subsidies of office area rents and property management fees to help local enterprises founded by Macao youth navigate through the COVID-19 outbreak.

As of late March, all Macao-invested land-use enterprises in Hengqin had resumed operations, as had 70 percent of startups founded by Macao youth.

Enforcement Regulations of the Interim Measures to Further Assist Macao Youth in Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Hengqin were also released with a package of financial support, rent subsidies, angel investment, and talent awards.

Farther north, some 260 workers at the tunnel between Nanqin and First Pingbei roads in Nanping are being "dynamically tracked," says a project chief of how care is taken to prevent against infection while catching up on production. Work crews also are being provided with accommodations and anti-epidemic supplies.
