Zhuhai poised as Greater Bay Area global logistics hub
The city of Zhuhai is to become a national production service-oriented logistics hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, exerting international influence over the next five years.
To achieve that goal, the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government released the Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Modern Logistics Industry on March 26.
According to the document, Zhuhai will give full play to its location advantage, enhanced by the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge in October 2018. Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Logistics Park planned for the city in Hongwan of Nanping Town is to foster relevant businesses and establish an international trade distribution center.

Logistics enterprises of Xiangzhou, Doumen, and Jinwan expect win-win cooperation in developing third-party and cold-chain logistics based on resource sharing and support of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Logistics Federation. Notably, the logistics infrastructure near Zhuhai-Macao borders will be improved to boost connectivity.
Meanwhile, Zhuhai will strongly promote its logistics industry with its port, airport, and railway network. It will increase land devoted to the logistics industry and propel the modern logistics sector by accelerating construction of logistics parks and encouraging enterprises to build logistics facilities on old factory sites or other idle land resources.
In addition to bringing in logistics projects, local enterprises are urged to cooperate with logistics companies around the globe. Production-oriented enterprises are to use logistic outsourcing to promote the professionalized development of the industry.
Furthermore, Zhuhai will commit to supply chain innovation and application, integrating e-commerce and express delivery, forming urban-rural delivery networks and multi-module combined transport, and optimizing a cold-chain logistics environment while adhering to smart, standardized, and green development concepts.
A citywide public information platform that links to national and provincial logistics information networks will be established to provide all-round and real-time information for logistics enterprises.
Moreover, Zhuhai will release supportive policies, help logistics enterprises address problems, enhance research on industrial development, improve statistical analysis of logistics systems, bring in talents, ramp up training, and promote exchanges with domestic and foreign logistics circles. Joint conferencing in the modern logistics industry will also be established to provide scientific planning and overall guidance.
