Zhuhai customs and frontier inspection stations have prevention and control measures in place to ensure smooth customs clearances of commodities as well as safe border crossings during the corona virus disease (COVID-19) outbreak.

Qingmao Customs in Maoshengwei, Gongbei, for instance, adopts a no-contact mode for companies in the Zhuhai-Macao Cross-Border Industrial Zone Zhuhai Park covering online declarations, supervised loading, belt conveying, machine and manual inspections, and release of packages.

To date, four e-commerce enterprises in the park have resumed operations and declared 239 packages of commodities at the customs.

Gongbei Checkpoint, for its part, has assigned officers to guide passenger flow at self-service inspection channels. The preliminary traffic divergence is intended to minimize interactions and reduce the risk of cross-infection while people wait for clearance.

Frontier police officers are attired in protective suits, masks, and gloves, while more than 100 self-service and over 70 staffed inspection channels at the checkpoint are disinfected daily.

As more and more cross-border employees have resumed work since Feb 10, the daily passenger throughput at Gongbei Checkpoint averages about 40,000.

The checkpoint has provided safe and efficient clearance services for 2.2 million passengers since Jan 23 and handled emergency clearance procedures for more than 800 travelers from heavily afflicted epidemic areas.
