Zhuhai enterprises are fast-tracking their products to assist with frontline prevention and control of corona virus disease (COVID-19).

Novel coronavirus IgM and IgG antibody test reagents (colloidal gold method) developed by Zhuhai Livzon Diagnostics and the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences passed emergency examination on Feb 9. Both were expedited on Feb 11, and will be put into mass production and deployed for clinical first-line usage after obtaining registration certificates.

Devoid of large detection equipment, many grassroots medical institutions have difficulties conducting scaled tests and screening. The IgM and IgG antibody test reagents, using a colloidal gold method to produce test results within 15 minutes, can assist in early-stage diagnosis.

Meanwhile on Feb 11, Livzon Diagnostics' novel coronavirus IgM antibody test reagent (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) also was declared an emergency project supported by the Ministry of Science & Technology through joint work with the Wuhan Institute of Virology and National Institutes for Food & Drug Control.

The serological test reagent can make diagnosis of supplement current nucleic acid tests more precise. It is suitable for mass screening and the scrutiny of suspected patients or those with mild symptoms.

Moreover, Ziyan UAV in the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan) will send seven unmanned aerial vehicles worth 4.05 million yuan ($579,800) to Wuhan. The UAVs, with a payload of 7 to 14 kg, can be used for frontline supply delivery, patrols, loud hailing, and monitoring. 

Company UAV operators Shu Gaochao, Ma Yufei, Liu Yucai, and Lei Yaozong set off with the first four drones on Feb 13. The Military-Civilian Integration Office of the CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee have given masks, protective suits, and goggles to the staff and the Hi-Tech Zone will offer them living allowances.
