Zhuhai firms provide millions in aid to fight outbreak
As of Feb 8, private enterprises in Zhuhai had donated about 82 million yuan ($11.73 million) in funds along with valuable supplies to aid in the prevention, control, and treatment of novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP).
Early on, the Zhuhai Federation of Industry & Commerce set up a leadership group and task force on epidemic prevention and control. Since then, its members and non-public economic circles contributed more than 39 million yuan ($5.6 million).
Soon, Gree Electric Appliances launched a fundraising activity in which its employees donated nearly 6 million yuan ($857,000) to Hubei Province. In addition, Gree donated 2,465 air purifiers and air conditioners valued at 14.76 million yuan ($2.1 million) to Wuhan, while Gree sales companies sent 10 million yuan ($1.43 million) worth of viricidal air purifiers to hospitals around the country.

Furthermore, Livzon Pharmaceutical Group activated a 24-hour emergency mechanism during Spring Festival to research, develop, and produce urgently needed medical supplies. The company donated 5 million yuan ($716,000) and 7 million yuan ($1 million) in drugs to the Red Cross Society of Zhuhai.
Joining in, Xiaomi Tech raised 3 million yuan ($430,000) of supplies and 10 million yuan in rescue funds to aid Wuhan, while Kingsoft Software raised 1.3 million yuan ($186,000) for the epicenter. Zhuhai Kingsoft Online Game also collected more than 1.5 million yuan ($215,000) from players of its computer gaming platform Seasun.
Moreover, By-Health donated 10 million yuan and COSMX 5 million yuan to the China Charity Federation. Jafron Biomedical donated 5 million yuan in medical supplies and 2 million yuan ($286,700) in funds.
In addition, Zhuhai Zhisheng Rixin Health Industry Technology donated 430 sets of medical atomizing pump equipment and 3,000 pairs of medical gloves valued at 1.34 million yuan ($192,000) to the Red Cross Society of Zhuhai. Zhuhai Zeyuan Real Estate donated 1 million yuan ($143,300) to the humanitarian social relief organization to purchase 40,000 NCP test reagents and 10 interpretoscopes.
