Macao-Zhuhai shipping center begun at Gaolan Port
All-supply-chain container services will be provided by the 550-million-yuan ($79-million) Huantong Comprehensive Logistics Center for which ground was broken on Jan 9 in the main port area of Gaolan in Jinwan District.
The services include multiple-mode combined transport, loading and unloading, storage, processing, and packaging. Huantong will combine e-commerce with sea, rail, and land transport to serve the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and industrial clusters on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary.

The joint Macao-Zhuhai project will help the Gaolan Port Economic Zone to further develop modern shipping, logistics, and supply chain management systems. It will also offset logistics shortcomings of Macao ports, said Zhao Shijian, director of the local administrative committee.
Owned and operated by Zhuhai International Container Terminals (Gaolan), Shanghai PanAsia Shipping, and Macao Nam Kwong Logistics, the new logistics center site covers 120,000 sqm (30 acres). Operations will be ensured by the comprehensive transport system of Gaolan Port, shipping routes operated by China COSCO Shipping, and Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity MRT.
Shanghai PanAsia Shipping is a subsidiary of China COSCO Shipping. It is versed in domestic and near-sea container transport and covers Japan, South Korea, China's coastal areas, and the Yangtze and Pearl rivers. In recent years, it also has begun tapping into rail and trailer transport.
Nam Kwong Logistics, subordinate to Macao-based state-run conglomerate Nam Kwong (Group), is the most influential logistics enterprise in Macao. It occupies the largest area at the Inner Harbor Ferry Terminal and modernized warehouses in the special administrative region.
