Zhuhai and CITIC team up to lift technology industry
Zhuhai has allied with China Information Communication Technologies Group (CICT) to delve into emerging industries such as “smart” oceans and cities, 5G mobile, optical and data communication, cyber information security, and integrated circuits.
A strategic cooperation agreement was signed between the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government and the enterprise on Nov 14.
The South China headquarters of CICT is to settle in Zhuhai, as will relevant industries. This will also attract upstream and downstream companies and cooperation units to set up businesses in the city.

Meanwhile, CICT will establish R&D platforms, innovation centers, industrial development funds, and industry-city integrated development platforms in Zhuhai. Envisioned are investments and operations on a 10-billion yuan ($1.4-billion) industrial scale.
A cradle of China's optical communications, the Wuhan-based company is one of the leading providers of international mobile communication standards with core intellectual property rights and a world-renowned provider of information communication products and solutions. Its annual sales volume exceeds 60 billion yuan ($8.6 billion) with business spreading across more than 100 countries and regions.
Its 2-billion-yuan (285-million) FiberHome marine network equipment project in the Gaolan Port Economic Zone produces repeaters, submarine optical cables, splitters, and associated products. The first phase was put into operation this year.
Zhuhai Party Chief Guo Yonghang, Mayor Yao Yisheng, and Tong Guohua, board chairman of CICT, attended the signing ceremony.
