Mega business complex in future for HZMB port island
A mega-complex integrating hotel accommodations, businesses, conventions and exhibitions, a comprehensive transport hub, and public parking lot is to be built on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) island north of the Joint Inspection Building at Zhuhai Port.
Shanghai-based Shimao Group was awarded the Zhuhai Public Resources Trading Center contract on Oct 18 to develop 226,000-sq-m (56 acres) commercial land at the site.
The complex, with a floorage of 967,700-sq-m (239 acres), will earmark 167,700 sq m (41 acres) for a comprehensive transport hub and public parking lot, 104,000 sq m (26 acres) for business use, and 300,000 sq m (74 acres) for a hotel-style office area.

An official with the Zhuhai Natural Resources Bureau said the tract has no supportive land for residential use, and its 56,000-sq-m (14-acre) convention and exhibition area will be transferred to the government at no cost.
Notably, at least two hotels will be built on 160,000 sq m (40 acres). One will be an InterContinental, Ritz-Carlton, Crowne Plaza, Le Méridien, Sofitel, Raffles, Langham, Marriott, Renaissance, Rosewood, Westin, Sheraton, Pullman, Kempinski, Grand Hyatt, Starwood, Hyatt, Accor, Banyantree, or Shangri-La hotel.
The 180,000-sq-m (44-acre) ordinary office area may not be mortgaged or transferred for 10 years after construction, while more than 20 foreign enterprises are expected to settle within three years after that threshold.
According to Shimao Group, the complex will adopt a "Super Business + Super Entertainment" design concept based on the prime location at HZMB Zhuhai Port with daily passenger flow of 70,000. In the developer's eye are landmark light shows, a future sci-tech entertainment hall, and a sci-tech convention-and-exhibition center.
Founded in 1989, Shimao Group is a comprehensive investment company that has extensive partnerships with world-renowned hotel management groups.
