Firms join biomedical incubation center in Tangjiawan
The Zhuhai Institute of Advanced Technology (IAT), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), in Tangjiawan Town unveiled its Biomedicine Business Incubator on May 7 as eight major projects signed up for its services.
The Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone enterprises will benefit from the newly established incubator and enjoy policy and service guarantees. The companies are engaged in either medical technology or electrical machinery.
The Zhuhai IAT opened in July 2017 as a result of cooperation between the city government and Shenzhen IAT. Dedicated to scientific research, industry, and capital, the Zhuhai institute has attracted world-class scientific technology and talents to develop emerging biomedicine, medical devices, big data, cloud computing, and biomaterials industries.

Several scientific research centers involved in precision medical R&D, medical devices, and biomaterial centers were established, as were an array of public technology service platforms. Alongside them are R&D laboratories affiliated with universities, research institutes, and medical institutions. In Israel and the United States are offshore professional platforms for transforming R&D achievements.
With all these facilities at hand, the Zhuhai institute has obtained more than 20 patents and incubated over 20 successful startups, according to Yang Jianhua, Party chief of the Shenzhen IAT of CAS.
The High-Tech Zone prioritizes the biomedical industry that has long enjoyed elevated status. A special supportive policy including a plan to build a 1-sq-km (247-acre) bio-pharmaceutical industry park was issued at the beginning of this year. It will bolster industry agglomeration and development, according to Zhang Jinghua, deputy director of the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone Administrative Committee.
