Film shows Zhuhai as haven for young entrepreneurs
Breeze on the Lingding Ocean, a Zhuhai-made film dedicated to the struggles of youth entrepreneurs in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, will premier across the country on April 12.
The film spotlights a group of returned students who gather in the coastal city to start a fashion brand. They fight unwaveringly against business fraud, internal strife, and fund shortages.
According to director Yang Jianhua, Zhuhai is great for youth returnees who want to open businesses, a quest rife with joys, sorrows, losses, and gains. The film presents the nation with the tenacious spirit of youth entrepreneurs and the Greater Bay Area.
Eight percent of the scenes were shot in Zhuhai, featuring the Fisher Maiden Statue, Lovers Avenue, Zhuhai Opera House, Meixi Royal Stone Archways, Tangjia (Tang's) Village, Huafa Shopping Mall, and Mid Town.
Liu Di
Heroine Liu Di, a Zhuhai native, said she has taken in the beauty of her city at various times as the shooting often lasted until late at night. Moreover, she has developed an in-depth understanding of the hardship, struggle, and faith of youth entrepreneurs through the film.
The film-and-television culture production company was founded in 2017 and has made three movies in the past two years. Breeze on the Lingding Ocean is the first part of a youth entrepreneur trilogy and garnered Best Picture Award at the 9th Macau International Movie Festival in December 2017.
The film will be on show at more than 30 Zhuhai theaters and exclusively broadcast by Chinese online video magnate iQIYI after it goes offline.
