Picture yourself and those you love at beautiful sites
The Zhuhai Daily newspaper and Young Photographers Association of Zhuhai are inviting friends, sweethearts, families, and colleagues to bring costumes and props for free photo shoots at picturesque sites in Doumen District.
The sessions are set for Sunday, Feb 27 in Jiexia of Nanmen Village on X582 (at Lvyi Ancestral Hall from 10 am to 12:30 in the afternoon) and Lianjiang Village off Route S272 (at the Senior Citizen Activity Center from 2-5 pm).
The charms of Jiexia and Lianjiang villages among other scenic Doumen attractions are more appealing than ever.
Jiaxia Village, Doumen Town (斗门镇接霞庄)
Jiexia Village has an upgraded look and improved facilities since last December. Characterized by historical depth, Jiexia, where flagstone walkways deliver a memorable strolling experience and creative murals catch the eye, is a place to soak in antiquity surrounded by a variety of flowers along the roadsides. Local culinary delicacies such as Mud-Baked Chicken and farm-flavored dishes are also on offer.
The village was founded by Zhao Weimao, a royal descendant of the Southern Song Dynasty (960-1279 ce). Formerly Xinwei Village, it was renamed after Xiashan Hill and Xiashan Ancestral Hall, visible in the distance. Xia (霞) refers to sunglow in Chinese, and therefore Jiexia (接霞) means "meeting sunglow." Several TV series have been filmed in the environment.

Lianjiang Village, Lianzhou Town (莲洲镇莲江村)
Lianjiang Village is a travel hotspot for its natural and harmonious pastoral landscape and holds status as a Guangdong Provincial Ecological Demonstration Village and Provincial Characteristic Tourism Village. The village is at the foot of Wuzhi Mt. Because the hills behind it are shaped like a lotus (莲) flower and there is a river (江) in front, the village is named Lianjiang (莲江).
The combination of scattered residential houses, towering mountains, and contiguous farm areas together constitute a special attractiveness.
