Huafa unit to create regional ag demo park in Doumen
A Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao modern agricultural demonstration park was initiated on Jan 27 with an agreement between the Doumen Eco-Agriculture Park Administrative Committee and Huafa Urban Operations (HUO).
The demo site will be located in the state-level 300-mu (49-acre) agricultural sci-tech Doumen Eco-Agriculture Park -- the largest of its kind in the Pearl River Delta region. With an eventual area of 312 sq km (120 sq miles), the park already centers on cutting-edge characteristic industries, ecological leisure and tourism, deep processing of agricultural and specialty products, and e-commerce.
Under the partnership, the demonstration park will arise from a north reclamation area. HUO will be responsible for independent overall planning, project development, production, and operation.

The focus will be on protected agriculture. Under such a program, plants are nurtured in a confined environment with optimal temperature, humidity, nutrition, irrigation, and light conditions. The technique has gained popularity in recent decades.
The world's top modern agricultural technologies will also be displayed at a high-quality, multi-species planting test demonstration base.
According to plans, the two parties will become equity partners after Phase I and will expand the scale of the protected agriculture production base. They will develop modern agricultural science and technology industry incubation, food inspection and quarantine, as well as research and development of modern agricultural facilities, warehousing, and logistics. They will also tap the potential of leisure and sightseeing agriculture, agricultural education, and outward-bound activities.
The Lianzhou area in northern Doumen is dotted with many eco-agricultural production bases and is the site of China's first Urban Modern Agriculture Demonstration Zone, and of the National Agricultural Sci-Tech Park.
