Buyers collect 1st made-in-China/Zhuhai Cirrus aircraft
Two Cirrus SR2X planes coming off the China Aviation Industry General Aircraft (CAIGA) Zhuhai assembly line were delivered on Nov 8, the same day a production permit for the product series was issued.
The SR2X is the best-selling piston-engine aircraft in the world, a position now held for 15 consecutive years.
The new planes were not only assembled at Zhuhai Aviation Industrial Park in Jinwan District but are domestically manufactured.

The plane was the first production by Circus Design Corp since it was renamed Cirrus Aircraft. The American company, the world’s largest general aircraft manufacturer, was acquired by CAIGA, headquartered in Zhuhai, in 2011. The parent company is Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC), a Chinese state-owned aerospace and defense conglomerate.
Insignia on the fuselage, with Chinese characters, indicates both CAIGA and AVIC.
Cirrus's other bestsellers, the SR22 and SF50, attracted much interest at Airshow China 2018, held from Nov 6 to Nov 11 in Jinwan.
