Nearly 200 experts and scholars convened recently for the 8th Macao-Zhuhai Cooperation & Development Forum to contribute to how to propel Zhuhai and Macao's development against the backdrop of the Greater Bay Area.

The forum, jointly hosted by the Macau Economic Association and the Zhuhai Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Bureau, concluded in Macao on Sept 15. Suggestions were made on issues including youth entrepreneurship, scientific and technological innovation, and financial cooperation.

According to Tai Kin Ip, director of the Macao Economic Services (DSE), Zhuhai and Macao can utilize complementary advantages to expand into Portuguese-speaking countries and promote economic and trade exchanges with these countries under the Belt & Road Initiative.

As of July, there were 1,285 Macao enterprises in Hengqin New Area, representing a registered capital of $12 billion. Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Industrial Park, Traditional Chinese Medicine Science & Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation Between Guangdong & Macao, and Inno Valley HQ have become vital platforms exemplifying Zhuhai and Macao friendship.
