New-materials institute to serve emerging industries
The Jinwan New Materials Research Institute is to be completed before the Nov 6-11 China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition. The progress was announced at an executive meeting of the district government on Aug 1.
In concert with the Harbin Institute of Technology Zhuhai Campus, the 100-million-yuan ($15.6-million) facility will advance new materials through cooperation with specialized high-end talents and teams from domestic and international universities and R&D organizations.
The institute comprises some current industrial plants and dormitories at Dingjiawan Industrial Park off West Airport Road in Sanzao Town. It has total floorage of 23,000 sq m (5.7 acres) and encompasses an international joint research center, industry incubator, talent service and testing centers, achievement exhibition hall, production demonstration area, and talent departments, among other resources.

It will eventually create 500 jobs, according to an official.
Jinwan's strategic emerging industries of aviation and aerospace, biomedicine, and new energy have created a large demand for new materials.
