Disneyland sees bridge vacuuming in mass of visitors
Hong Kong Disneyland is piggybacking the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) to draw visitors from the west bank of the Pearl River -- especially Zhuhai -- using a tourism campaign that was unleashed on July 14.
The group-tour product was co-developed by China Travel Service Gongbei Port Guangdong and other organizations. It is focused on using the soon-to-open world's largest sea bridge to bring in many more tourists from the west. The agency's one-day tour service from Zhuhai to Hong Kong Disneyland has long topped the city's sales list, and with the quick link to Hong Kong, Zhuhai will become a main distribution center, according to James Tung Pui-chuen, director of travel trade sales at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
Disneyland -- the largest theme park in Hong Kong -- received 6.2 million visitors last year. Sampling surveys show about a 10 percent year-on-year increase in numbers of Zhuhai tourists since last October.
