Beautified roadway enhances allure of Airshow China
A 6.4-km (4-mile) length of East Airport Road will reopen to the public before the 12th Airshow China opens at the Zhuhai Airshow Center in November.
The road, with an improved look and enhanced facilities, runs northward along the west bank of the Niwanmen Waterway to traverse mountainous ecological areas of Jinwan District.
Beginning last December, the road was divided into sections featuring either coastal recreation, sports, or ecological leisure.

The coastal recreational section is a southern extension of an existing park. A natural sand beach forms part of it and a corridor bridge will extend to the shore. The facility will be around 300 m (984 ft) long with the width varying from 8 m (26 ft) to 15 m (49 ft). There will also be a mini theatre and a sea-viewing platform.
Venues will be set aside for children's recreational events, fitness, basketball, beach volleyball, and other leisure activities.
A 225-m (738-ft) path is planned to exemplify Sponge City concepts, according to a project head. It will contain cycling paths and colored water-absorbing walkways, which will also be runner friendly. The first-grade walkway will be 6 m (20 ft) in breadth to allow for the flow of automobiles in an emergency, and second- and third-grade walkways will be 4 m (13 ft) and 2 m (6.6 ft) wide, respectively.

The entire slow-traffic system will allow movement in any direction.
Furthermore, there will be a large variety of flowers producing blossoms throughout the year. There will also be palms and other ornamental trees.
A smart Wifi-lighting system will allow residents to locate and synchronize their real-time in-motion data through a cellphone application, according to the Zhuhai Aviation Industry Park Construction Bureau.
Additionally, two pedestrian overpasses and 157 parking spaces will be created. The road should appeal to both visitors and residents.
The China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition is the largest event of its kind on the Chinese mainland and is held every two years at the Zhuhai Airshow Center near Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport.
